Current Status

Making our system more resilient – early warning of outage

Over the past few months the infrastructure team has been busy establishing a presence in a second Brisbane data centre. This has involved the establishment of dark fibre link between the centres and the allocation of physical servers to provide a backup/failover solution. The final stage of this process will be to split the two halves of our storage array across the two locations. When this step is taken we will have a “warm start” capability if one of the data centres goes off line.

To achieve this transition the we will need to stop the storage array, move heavy components across town, reassemble and then restart the array and associated VMs. This will take approximately 24 hours to achieve. The process will be started on Friday 21 June 2019 at 10 pm AEST. We anticipate completion by Saturday night. However the process may slide into Sunday.
